im in the process of putting my straight cut drop gears in. firstly i need to get the input gear off the gearbox shaft to replace with the straight cut one. so iv got the c clip off and the bearings i have removed and the nylon carry they sit in however i cant get the metal bearing race off iv tryed using my 2 leg puller but its too small for it to get a grip any suggestions?

Right.the best way is to undo the nut it will push the collet off so far. Then you can use a puller to get it off or a screw driver to pri it off
To undo the nut you need to lock the gear set. You will need to take the diff housing off and and take the gear selector out the way so you and select. 1st or 2nd. With 3rd or 4 th. This will stop it turning so you can undo and then tighten up the nut once you have fitted the new drop gears.
Best to lay the gearbox upside down. And get someone else to stand on it. That nut is very tight. Your need a big leaver bar.

cheers dean works well. managed to undo it by my self was very tight however cant torque it up by myself lol have to wait for kelly to get back from work. matt
