hi is it a single carb (twin choke 45 dcoe weber) or are you running 2 carbs 45 dcoe webers. if you have a set of 2 webers carbs they can be quite fiddly to sync. firstly is the carb or carbs jetted for your size of engine? if not then you will have problems getting smooth idle and acceleration. are they new or second hand? have you used the rubber gaskets (nylon with rubber o ring or metal with a fat rubber o ring) and spring washers that stop fuel frothing if you have make sure that they have not been over tightened you should be able to move the carb up and down alittle. make sure your linkage is free moving no tight spots or frayed cable. does it currently spit back through the carb on idle and on acceleration when engine is warm? a good bases of tuning them is to screw the idle mixture screws all the way in (not to tight because you can damage the needle points on them) then count 2 fall turns anti clockwise on each get the engine warm and adjust to suit you wanna get your idle about the 900-1000 rpm mark. only use 1\4 turn at the most at anyone time on each of the screws this way you can keep track of your adjustment easier try to avoid over adjusting the idle on the throttle lever. only a very small amount if its really needed, due to the carbs 3 fuel delivery there is a partial point in witch there is a lean spot from idle circuit to progressive circuit. heres a link www.tjwakeman.net/TR/WeberDCOEinfo.htm helped me set up my twin 45's on my capri hope this helps also you can get a sync tool for them i think its about 50quid from demon tweeks but everyone i spoke to about them say a good ear is all you need matt
