Terry you need some 'Riv nuts'. They rivet into holes with a thread- try Screwfix off birch road. I had to do that when I fitted my mirrors cos the holes didn't line up. Really handy tool actually- good for holding the grille / arches / whatever else on with bolts rather than self tappers, so you avoid bare metal... and rust

Jammed in the lock ?
Try any motor factor in Eastbourne . The trouble with the nutserts or rivnuts whatever you want to call them , they will need the tool to fit them unless you have a good rivet gun set and the adaptor may be in it . Basically the 'bit' end of the tool screws into the thread of the nut and it then crushes up in a similar method to fitting a rivet . You could always pop into a good bodyshop , sure some-one will do it for you.

I have a couple of rivnut tools in the garage... I think I have M5, & M6... I know I dont have an M8 as that what I need for another little repair. If you need the tool I can dig it out.
Also the nuts are sold at the fastner shop on the industrial estate behind halfords... go to the end of the road turn left... down to heathfield meats turn left again and they are on the right. Sorry I cant rember the name of the shop but they were in Hailsham... Other people will know i'm sure.

Wow... I dident realise that you could get rivnut tools like potrivt guns... the ones I have look like this. Also you can always use the two nut method to fit them which is the princible of how that tool works. N
