as gilbert is going off road for a couple of weeks to enable me to put a new engine subframe suspension in i am thinking of upgrading the brakes to metro 4 pot, im assuming the drive flanges have to be replaced? and the obvious difference with hoses.i am considering putting a servo in but am a little confused as to what i need!! any help please

right tel, this is what you need, www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?ty=pb&pid=34059&title=BRAKE%20CONVERSION%20VENTED%20D... you can do it cheaper if you build it yourself and get the parts cheap, but its up to you, you need a pair of metro turbo 4 pot calipers( vented type), metro drive flanges with bolts brake hose convertion, www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?ty=pb&pid=35514&title=BRAKE%20HOSE%20METRO%204%20POT%20TO... metro 4 pot pads metro 4 pot vented discs i have do a set in the past and i did it easy under £150 but i did not do the piston, which will be £56 for 8 for all the new parts, pistons, seals, discs, pads, hoses, is just under £150 if you dont need to do the piston and get the set up cheap your do it for around £150, if not just about £200 best to get a complete set you can get them pretty cheap needing a rebuild. i keep an eye out, and if you need a hand give me a shout

tel when you get that servo, get some pipes made up and bolt it on and see what the brakes are like, there should be a good improvement.
if your happy with them you may not need to go the metro turbo route, as thats what standard 1275 cooper had. so you could save yourself some money

Remember a servo aids amount of input effort from driver required to operate the brakes not make the brakes work better .
It would be like saying the fitment of power steering on a transit will make it turn-in like a Mini , it wont , it will reduce the effort required to turn the steering .

he's alive!!!! got gilberts engine in over the weekend and now he has servo braking with metro 4 pots and vented discs.fiddled with a few remaining bits tonight and got him started needs a bit of tinkering but time was getting on and it was abit late to be making lots of noise with his phat exhaust many thanks to big tony and martin for helping guide the engine in, would've really struggled, and matt for his help modding the carb set up and for deans help over the last few nights. couldn't have done it without you guys. just got the brakes to bleed and try to get him running some sense then it'll be of to gerald
