Ive been replacing my wheel bearings today as one had a bit of play. After pressing new seats in, the rear seat was very slack and fell into place and has lots of movement. Unlike the front seat which was very tight to fit and has no movement. Im assuming this means the swivel hub needs replacing, am i correct (has anyone a spare o/s hub?)

Certainly needs a new hub .
Had a scenario myself some years ago when I kept hearing a screeching noise coming from a front hub . Found that despite the split pin still in place the hub nut would easily move untill the split pin stopped it . Removed pin , torqued up hub nut fitted new pin and away we went . A week latter the noise was back , the hub nut was loose .
New hub .
Had a Sports Pack in at work a few years ago for a MOT, I failed on front hub bearing excessive play . I found that someone had actually tried to weld the bearing race into the hub to keep it tight .
This problem has been posted on here before and the only fix is fitting a new hub and bearing . I also recommend fitting a new conical shape hub washer , the tapered one that you fit on before the hub nut . These do wear , sometimes you can see ridges on them . The hub nut sometimes gets overtightened and these tapered washers gets almost pressed into the drive flange .

rachel had that washer break into 3-4 peices after the drive flange grooves went smooth, they are only a £1 or £2 and as dave said worth changing

Matt Dawson bought his green Supercharged one into me for a mot . That had excessive movement . Couldnt see where from initially and then we spotted the steering arm moving slightly . Although the bolts would not tighten up it had movement . Think he fitted new bolts in end . Could be play in inner rack joints .
I had a look in Haynes manual last night and noticed that they do not put the tapered washer in the hub then torgue it up . They fit a thick washer , then tighten nut before removing both , fit tapered washer then the hub nut and torque again .
Have a look in the hub section of haynes to see what i mean . If yours is a old manual it may not be there.

track rod ends are cheap as chips mate, i think Si got a pair for about a fiver from Gerald Dale. Always replace as a pair, when you remove them count the amount of turns to undo, put the new ones on the same amount of turns. That will give the tracking a rough set, get it checked properly as soon as you can after that.
