imagine our delight to become the new owners of daves sidewalk we picked it up last night and guess what!!!!yep i couldnt believe it either! the blooming fan belt went! so there was i pushing the car along kings drive at 11pm to get it of the main road, sorted now and its at home. just goes to show that you never know when something can go wrong, and of course i didnt even have a spanner, but me and victor had quite a long conversation lol,and a long walk home that seemed to go on for ever.main thing is the car is ok and of course no ones at fault and no damage

Was sad seeing that go off into the distance . I hate selling Minis thats why I keep them for so long . Had mk1 18yrs and Studio2 9 . Sure that was a new fan belt , did it split ? Tell you what tho Terry I have pushed that bloody thing for a good couple of miles one night , went down a pot hole when I was alrerady going to be late getting home ( gone midnight) the thing conked out and wouldnt run . So I pushed it closer to my destination free wheeling down the hills when i could ;D . Left it in the end and walked home . Of coarse it dawned on me when i got in that the bloody fuel shut off valve had operated when I went down the pot hole and all i needed to do was press the button on it to re-set it ;D .

hi dave dont think it was a new belt as its only half the thickness of a new one and the teeth are alot smaller. the alternater had moved on the adjuster bracket and we tightened it up,got it started and it moved again, yet the bracket was as tight as i could get it! still, got new belt on tightened up and drove it home and all seems ok but will take it out later and see what happens. going to do front mounts first though.

ignition on and press a button on fob till the light on dash goes out . They are a pain in bum . That one does not have a problem so sure you will get used to it . The fuel shut off is to left of wiper motor near the bulkhead and is a soft button about a inch round . You have the handbook , it will be in there .

It hasnt been used in 18 months so yes it could be a bit sticky . The contacts under the rubber button on the curcuit boards can get a sticky residue on them , so cleaning them up helps . You get the same problem on tv/hifi remotes too. on the other hand its not the sort of remote you can wave around whilst pressing the button thinking it will turn off the immobilizer , it wont . Ignition on and press the button . Wise to have a spare anyway , loads of new ones on ebay , dont know much about those to be honest . You have a code for it, speak to Shawn about the coding side of it as he knows more than I .
