tried to fit new front hilos but the suspension tool stripped it's threads, thinking i over compressed it
i was using the imperial tool as the metric didn't fit
it went with a big bang and the existing trumpet wedged in at an awkard angle
so i had to try again with the metric to get the trumpet back in place so i could put the car back in the garage
that worked to free the trumpet enough to push it back to the right place
but when i went to unscrew the suspension tool the handle unscrewed from the threaded end
now i have one end stuck in the cone that won't come out
i think i'll have to cut the trumpet out to free it all and fit new cones
suggestions please as i still have the other side and my mini to do
cheers trigg

cut or smash out the trumpet they are only made of alloy, you will not need them as you are fitting hi-lo's.
but you will have to find a way of getting the end of the tool out the cone as on mine the cone had to roll 90 degrees to get it out. so it came out sideways in the subframe. maybe tightern the tool back on to the shalft tight and lock it on, then try again, WD40 my help. Also check the treads on the tool before you use it again as they may be damaged.
and yes you will have to replace the cone. do BOTH front ones and use GENUINE cones (dunlop) they are a bit more expensive but worth the extra money.
if your lucky at shows you can get them for about £25 each, but normal they are around £35 mini suppliers

think once i get the trumpet out i can get a socket on the nut of the cone then get some locktite and double nut the tool and see if i can get it to unscrew
think i need a new tool either way and i already have a pair of cones to put on it was gonna use them on my mini
so will a hammer and chisel get through the trumpet?
