ok here we go victor is 998 1983 mayfair. had him for a week and a half and still havnt a chance to look at him properly, however as only 998 im looking to source a 1275/1300ish for him.one thing im not to sure on is that he has drums all round and hes on 10inch wheels.nice set of ggold alloys which i would like to keep but from what i can gather converting 10"drums to discs is pretty expensive! so my first dilema is do i keep 10s or go to 12s wich is alot cheaper? of course i would also have to source new wheels. swings and roundabouts.there is also the issue of driveshafts etc what exactly would be entailed in doing this conversion?anyway all ideas on this welcome

Your problem can be answered by buying the new alloys which are ten inch but allow the use of the 8.5 inch disk setup should be quite a stright forward conversion and cheaper than sourcing the illusve good set of ancient 7.5 setup. i think theres adequate info for conversion in the online mini encyclopedia or on the miniforum website .

made a start on victor over the weekend, got him in my new garage ,after carefully labeling all the wiring etc ive removed engine and subframe and started to strip the engine the head is remarkably clean for 70 odd thou but as leaded looking for unleaded head keeping him 998 as this will be our daughters car in a couple of years. had a brief look underneath and looks like just a drivers floorpan but not looked at the back propally as the front is jacked right up so now looking for a spit if anyone can give any info on where to get one and how much

oh my god !!!! what have you done to my car!!!!obviouslyy these words came from holly can you put it back together? well of course i can ,said i, dont worry love itll be just like a new car when ive finished!!! as you may have gathered victor is now lying around in 20 different boxes and apart from the dashboard and lights is now just a shell .just waiting for my spit and ill be able to make a start cleaning him up and have a proper look at what needs doing.just got to work out how to stop holly having nightmares about her car.already know rear subframe needed, ive got a complete set of floorpans, just in case will be on lookout for complete interior at some point.already got cooper s 10"disc conversion which i have mostly built up,i will be replacing all brake and clutch pipes if anyone has any pointers as the best way to do that, biggest problem at the mo is every nut and bolt seem to be rotten and are snaping of .thats it for now
