Think you said it all Si Air leak , corrosion or sensors . Check all vacuum pipes and couplings for splits. Check connections May even need plugging in to a Diagnostic scanner . See what codes are in the ecu , if any .

its only a mini, told him to get a life. Well said Tim!! :-) Well all I can suggest is working through the items listed by Sprocket. But once you get to the end of those... I've got a box of sensors to compare multimeter resistance readings with your sensors. To see if a sensor has failed, (coolant and air temp). I could drop them off with the Mrs on Monday? Well then back its to the basics. Is the car getting hot? Up to temperature? The old thermostat problem with our mini's. If not, the mini will not be runnning efficently. Ignition in good order & timing set correctly? Its still got a dizzy to be timed in. Breathers all clear? Has the car been using oil/smoking? Could of coated the lambda sensor? A replacement would be a short term solution if you haven't solved how the lambda is been coated with oil/over fueling. Applies to the cat too. Last one, a lot of effort for a 'just in case'. Whats the mileage, 50,000+? When was the head last off, valves lapped? If the valves are not sealing you'll get a poor burn and therefore high emissions. This makes a huge improvement on minis, as the valve seats loose there seal. But this will not hide a fault in the system. Si 07974 508 461
