I'm Finally getting round to putting a metro 1275 engine into the mini. So here's my 1st problem I need to modify the head to fit the heater tap, the metro heads have the screw holes for the fixing but the actual hole is not there. I need a 9/16" 14.5mm hole drilling and I don't have a drill bit that big. So can anyone recommend someone who could do this for me or has a suitable bit they could lend me? Have fun Tiz

It has been a while, too long. The piles of stuff found on top of the mini is now all gone and for the 1st time in ages I can get at it. I'd really like to get that engine back in and MOT'd before the summers gone.
Once you'd drilled your holes were you able to just tap it out?

Yep, just a circle of little holes dot to dot as pilot holes. Then jump up a drill size to join them as a complete cut or bash with a club Use a magnet to pick up any swarf that drops into the head, or take off the head and blow out the evil sharp bits of swarf.

Job done. I'd been worrying about this job ,I didn't want to wreck the head. I guess I'm not the ideal candidate for DIY port modification! Drilling tiny holes in a circle worked a treat, it just needed a tidy with a file.
Once again thanks for the advice
