Ive got a fuel/petrol leak, its coming from near the carb (pretty sure its not coming from the carb) I stuck my hand under the carb to see if i could feel any fuel etc and there wasnt. It looks like its coming from a part thats just below the carb on the right hand side....i will look up what part it is! I dont know to try and solve this myself and with the help of the lovely people on here of course!!! or just to take it to a garage, ive got a horrible imagine in my head that its just going to blow up!! Its going through a full tank of petrol in about 2 days, it normally last me about a week and 1/2. To make matter worse i have an oil leak from the cv joints (correct me if i got that wrong!) Basically shall i try and concore this one alone or just take it to a garge in the hands of a professional who wont blow up my car!?

Is that my right or your right? ;.) Sounds like it could be from the area of the petrol pump, have a look for perished rubber pipes, that is usually common coz it's near the exhaust manifold. Cheap and easy fix, just don't do it when the engine is warm or you'll be swearing at the exhaust pipe as it burns you.. Oh and don't smoke.. Inner CV's commonly leak at the output shaft seal (item49), the seal is dirt cheap but a mornings work to replace, there is a ring of bolts that holds the endcover on (item45) that have a habit of coming loose allowing oil to leak out of the inner CV area. Item numbers refer to piccy below. www.scparts.co.uk/index/lang-2/lkz-195/markenid-4/katnr-45/kat_sprache-2/hrubnr-872/rubrik-1562/index.php?tpl=clickable_vertikal.tpl&vergroesserungtop=30

If your looking down at the engine....that right lol. I think i might have to get under the car to have a look for the pipes i couldnt really see alot when i was looking down at the engine. the simple jobs always take me ages!!! Right i'm guna have to try and get on this asap....my petrol is nearly on red and i filled up weds/thurs....not good! If its as simple as you say maybe i can do it.....i say that now! Im guna sound like such a girl but im so scared my cars guna blow up maybe very stupid....but after looking at the diagram....can i do the cv joints while the engine is still in the car?! someone said i could do this when i had to replace my clutch oil seal but me and my friend had to end up lifting the engine out of the bay....

:)Passenger side would be the fuel pump side, as paul said check your pipes and the clips that hold them on to the pump. with the CV thingy you should be able to do this with the car up on axel stands and leaving the engine in situ Daz

Extra Extra!! Alice in Wonderland spotted!! The following picture was taken at dusk this evening, this elusive and timid creature took flight after the flash (of my camera phone). Evidence suggests the creature is of intelligence, developed spacial awareness, enough to wield advanced tools and manipulate materials. Found was the remains of a rocker cover gasket, a pool of fuel, two short mangled fuel hoses and a rather blessed copper fuel pipe. Probably holed by chafing against a mini front subframe. Police have been informed that a tool wielding 'Alice' is on the road. A mob will be gathering Monday evening to discuss the matter in more detail.

So.... that fuel pipe still needs securing by re-routing correctly and using that tab to hold it in place. Reseal the exhaust as its blowing. Reseal the pot joint/drive shaft rubber its throwing grease everywhere. Plus dirt will enter the joint and start wearing the joint. Replace the thermostat with new. New length of hose with the carb overflow. New spark plugs. Adjust the tappets. Oh and wash the poor thing
