Hey all, been on a bit of overtime lately on the forum! My girlfriend attacked the window the other day and to me it seems that the glass isn't resting in the metal winder any more. It will wind up okay if not a bit dodgy but when you unwind it the glass stays then drops down. I've conceeded to not opening it, unfortunately the weather in the Bournemouth is pretty d**n nice and it gets a bit toasty. How would I fix this considering i'm at uni and only have basic mini repairing tools with me! worth waiting to get it back to geralds or purty easy fix??? Cheers Steveo ;D

cross head screw drive take off the window winder, door handle etc, the door card is on poppers so start in a corner and pull, but be carefull, once its off you maybe able to see whats what, you may have to undo the 4 screw holding to window mechanisn,
sounds like its come off the runner, bit fiddley but not that hard
so really all you need is time and a screw driver

the most likely cause is the metal guides which hold the glass has rusted and opened up allowing the glass to separate from the runner guides , follow deans directions and replace jobs a good'n , be careful when removing the glass from the door as they will bind with the top chrome and felt caps bits at the top of the door skin best remove these first can be fiddly but they do come off if you use a flat bladed screw driver to remove the chrome / felt top caps be careful to put a bit of ply or thich carpet behind the levering part of the screwdriver which saves the paint work on the top of the panel as you twist the screwdriver to lever it off. when removed you can proceed to remove glass and fit new runner guide , these are simply held in under the clamping pressure of the glass and rubber do not use glue it is not neccesary , however if fitting the new one is difficault use watered down washing up liquid mix on the glass it will slide into place easily leave out in the sun to dry for a few hours and re fit wind when dry ,the replacement guide can be positioned easily as you will see a mark on the glass where the old one was . another tip when removing the winding regulator is to wind the regulator to about half way or where the bottom of the glass sits near the regulators hole in the door panel then you should be able to slide the regulator back by about ten mill to releave it from the apparture and then you should be able to slide the rollers out of the two guides and set the regulator to one side and remove the glass , all the bits of rust from the bottom of the door otherwise it will fester and ruin your door spray some anti rust converter in there and drop some waxoyle in there too to preserve it but make sure the drain holes stay clear . hope this helps you and dean is right no special tools required , wish i had a pound for each one of these ive done ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,thinking about it i have and some lol .
