hi thats for the help with the gearbox. But now i have another problem,just fitted a new recon gearbox and put every thing together, but now i have a whining noise from the clutch end. It makes the noise and it gets louder when i rev changes note when the clutch is down. i have tryed a few things 1 taking the clutch housing of still a noise 2 mad show nuts where not touching any thing eg clutch cylinder starter motor etc 3 took of all clutch parts and put them back on. but now im stuck,and me and the boy are sure we will not be going to l2b if its not sorted so if anyone has any more info it would be great regards dean

like si said check clutch release bearing , was it changed, first and easiest thing
have you put the thrush washer behind the top cog which goes on the crank

hi si is that the 1 on the outer plate which has the clutch arm on.

ok that was not touch and when the plates off it still makes the niose.

Hi Dean
Its the bearing that is attached the clutch cover and arm. Even when the clutch is released that will touch the clutch, when you press the clutch pressure applied will push the bearing onto the clutch and the noise change.
The orange (brass) round washer is the thrust bearing. Which the goes between the engine/crank shaft and the top gear. If thats not in place it could also cause issues.
When you say the plate off, thats the clutch cover with the arm?

yes thats the plate,im takining the engine out again and ill check the brass washer as i have to take the other part to see. thanks and ill let you know what happens fingers crossed

ok everyone all done just finished very wet and the car runs. it took a new gear box new prussure plate,new lightened flywheel,new orange clucth plate ,new race clutch,new bearings,new plunger,new arm and new clutch master cylinder but it works see you all at palace 4 a beer regards and owe you all a beer 2.
