Hey Guys, Whats the best paint / primer to use on a subframe once it has been blasted back to bare metal? Also where to get it from? Cheers Neil

Get some red oxide paint if its back to bare metal and underbody seal which can be bought from Halfords Ant

you can get it hot zinced to stop the rust thats what i had done to my doors once they were blasted
coat of red oxide ASAP to stop the rust and some hammerite paint, brush on is best,
go down the car shop he will have it or can get it

where do you get it hot zinced ? is that somthing they do at the blasting place in Hailsham Do you need to red oxide it after that N

Sussex blast in hailsham do it. You could give it a red oxide for a key for the paint.but it should not need it But is it not easier just to have it powder coated it will cost about the same. Then you will not have to hand paint it.

My entire bodyshell and all suspension componants were covered in red oxide after shot blasting to bare metal.

Yes the key is to seal all the metal before the moisture gets to the bare metal remove all particles of blasting matter , oven it after blasting if possible then quench it with a rust converter like kurust re heat until dry and paint with rust preventitve of some sort ,red oxide , zink100 ,prime it then a hard wearing top coat the harder the better, plastic encapsulation (powder coat)? twopack paint ? plus when thats all done add a good layer of waxoyle based underseal (found at halfords in a half gallon tub so it can be ladeled on!) jobs a good'n .
