Looks like I might be needing one of these for the pickup so wheres the best place to get one locally. Also what brand is best Not particulally limited on size as there is quite a bit of extra space in the pickup for the battery. Laters... N

Halfords.. with a trade card, got mine for £28 instead of £45, comes with 3yr warranty so wasn't bothered about brand. Or British replacement batteries in Hailsham. Can help you with a trade card if needed.

Regarding the correct battery for your Mini .
Standard battery used is a 038 . That is the number your looking for , 038 .
As a alternative (actually it was because I keep them in stock) I have had a 063 in mk1 since i finished it. Got a bit more cranking oomph which is ideal .
The 063 fits 90's Fiesta and escorts and Rover 200's, and the latest modern stuff like that . Very popular fitment and as a result the price is low , lower than the correct Mini 038 in my experiance .
So you need either a 038 or a 063 . As far as space in battery box is concerned the 063 is ok with tens but a tight fit if you got 12's although it does not cause issues . Just put one in Josie's Equinox .
Neil , My Pick up always had a 063 in it . With the Pick Up tho you need to be a bit carefull of the battery height and security . As the height is limited where they live in the Pick Up if the battery is not secure its possible the battery will touch the underside of the load bed . If the battery is to big it wont fit anyway .

Hey Guys still deciding what to get, I know where part co is in Eastbourne so that might be a good bet as they still do a lifetime warrenty. Ideally what I want is the largest one I can fit behind the drivers seat. I suppose I better get my new seats in situ before measuring up. Cheers N

yeah and no tax if you are not tax exempt allready , on a more serious note you can find lucas uk or www.lucaselectrical.co.uk/batteries.html it should come up with a local stockist i use one in hove brighton they do the batteries in old money (lead acid) and now they do the gel type in the traditional shape too , a much friendlier way of doing things been fitting them for a couple of years now with no charging issues at all .

Go dry cell like u said before so you can stack it sideways- varley red top starter battery or something like that. Don't need a huge one as it's just the pickup but you can get it right out the way then.

There you go Neil Why put it behind the seats in that vast unused space Pick up batteries should go when you could spend a load more than you need on one even tho its just the pick up and then hang it upside down under the dash on the passenger side. At least it wont leak . Just stick a 063 or standard 038 in . They all have a warranty .
