i would of thought it would do your just have to see how it lines up with the oil gallery and bolt holes etc, i have never played with an auto engine, but why,
go for a manual the autos keep breaking, all the time,
easier and less hassel, and they readily available and also parts
you know your give in one day and go for a manual, ha ha ha
but worth a try just too see if it does, at this rate you could be a auto gearbox guru in the club
good luck

1275 Auto engines with boxes are readily avaliable in lots of metros and they are very cheep compaired to a standard 1275 manul metro as nobody wants the autos. Suggest you are looking at about £100 for an engine and box with about 30K on the clock.
Talk to mini bill as he upgraded his 998 Auto to a 1275 Auto a few years back. I think the only problem was that he needed to drill an extra access hole in the subframe to tighten a bolt up but I cant totally remember why this was required!

december Mini magazine has a article on auto to manual conversions , unless going for 100% originality i wouldnt bother with a auto . i work with guys that were caffyns apprentices/mechanics from 1971 onwards working on the minis .........
they say they were crap even back then and failures frequent.
i had a 1990 1 old lady owner auto mayfair with only 14 thousand miles on it and the gearbox still slipped on that . i only bought that to sell on (anyone remember it down the Peacehaven car show edmc club stand?)
the 1300 auto i found for Tony to put in Manky was a little old lady metro my garage had serviced for years and years . it had 40k on it and that failed .
if i had no engine in my mini and was offered a 1275 auto and a manual 998 for free i would go for the 998 manual.
at the end of the day Matt the choice is yours of course
