Old starter motor conked out,
Order a new one from Mini sport, made sure it was the right one etc etc....
Takes 2 weeks to arrive... (Two weeks of bump starting)
New start motor was missing a spade head for coil connection....
Sent it back with my old one to get my sur-charge back...
Another 3 weeks later the proper start motor arrives.... (Car sat in garage, body work delayed by a month)
Sur-charge never refunded.... nor was any money taken off the price for poor service, even though I made several angry phone calls... and car was finally ready to start sorting out before this years L2B, which turned into a huge rush...
Then something silly - clip fell off wiper blade holding rubber in place (wipers ordered from minisport, two days prior) so the rubber blade falls out when used for more than 10 minutes... they wouldn't send me a new one, I'd have to buy a whole new blade...
No more orders from mini sport.

you can buy electrical componants localy and dont need to go to specialists . autolec in newhaven and eastbourne . ajays all over the place including hastings partco there are loads of motor factors selling stuf locally .
the best mini chrome wiper blades are from minispares , had mine on for years with no probs . Thick arms and blades , good quality parts .
only buy 4 pot calipers or genuine parts from minisport. been there done that , got burnt .

I found a little gem in Eastbourne, where I bought a new starter for the same price as the big guys (and I only had to wait a couple of days). Eastbourne Alternator & Starter Centre, just off Seaside working more or less from a shed. 01323723307 E-mail:eastbournealternatorcentre@hotmail.co.uk If you want to support the little man, here's your chance! good old mini sport strikes again, katentel ordered a clutch saturday, today ( wednesday) gets an email that its out of stock for 5-6 days and then its 2-3 working days for postage,
be carful as if you have to send anything back they take 25% charge off the full price of the item for there wrong mistake, for refunding and paper work, plus you have to pay for postage, cheeky

i suppose the morale is, read the name and shame section!!!! And read a post I put up somewhere regarding local suppliers , only put it up in last few weeks . Dean will remember where it is on the Forum ....it was the one I got mistakingly slagged off about . It lists local motor factors and phone numbers . Saves going to Mini specialists for everyday mechanical items . Will be of help. Dave

>:(THESE PEOPLE DO MY NUT!!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!!! I ordered a set of black classic cobra clubman and subframes off them after sending an email confirming price and availability, only to be told they don't stock them anymore after I've bought them. Then when i call up to arrange alternatives they tell me firstly that they have no subframes and that the price will be EXACTLY the same. Two weeks later and they turn up but cost me OVER 100 quid more and dont have any fitting instructions or any bolts or anything. Tried to get money back ,they reckon they can only give me credit!!! Properly p***** off with them!!! NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM

everyone i have spoken to says the same kind of thing, even a trader i was speaking to at beauliue, they supply , or did supply them with different parts but they took 60 days to pay for stock, they said if trader who trade with them dont pay in 30 days dont have credit with them.
but as its been said before they do make good products, calipers, and a few other CNC parts,
but if you do want parts from them, best to walk through there door and speak in person
or use local or other mini / motor factors
saying that i have noticed that in the last year or 2 they have started to do shows like L2B, beauliue, and thats not a short trip for them to get to get to those shows, so they must of realised that people have started to stop using them. and losing money

Stephen , this mob really needs sorting out . I can understand the mags wanting to stay impartial but the people that advertise in them are actually robbing Mini enthusiasts and I reckon if you were to look into consumer law they are actually commiting a offence in some cases . They are no better in my view than the Mini car thief ring the mag reported on a couple of years ago .
I was having problems with Minisport back in the late 90's , sold me a stage 1 kit, the exhaust manifold didnt have the manifold to head flanges welded on straight so there was a gap between head and manifold that even when filled with exhaust paste it would not seal up . Absolute ....ing joke . When called about it all they could say was never had a problem . Absolute .ollocks , Think Shawn had the same provblem with a Minispares Sportex manifold.
DONT BUY FROM MINISPORT ....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED .
Can pages from the forum be printed off and sent to Brian Harper the owner of Minisport ?
Regarding exhausts ... You want a excellent quality easy fitting exhaust that does give performance gains has various differant styles and has stainless steel baffles even if the outer is not stainless steel ....buy a RC40 from Minispares . Not everones favourite either i realise but they have the best stock of standard stuff and Minisport cant match there prices , i know as had conversation with Minisport about panels who reckon Minispres make a few quid only per panel and cant see how they do it .
