why not just get a cheap 1275 lump as you will be talking about a full rebuild plus you will end up with lower compression

I have spoke to a few people that have done it, and they said it made a lot of deifferenc.

Nothing wrong with a dremmel.
Remove the head. Seal the side of end piston with some silicon sealant/window sealant. This is to prevent nasty bits of metal fouling up your bore at a later date.
On your 1275 head remove the valve springs. but leave each valve in place.
Place an old head gasket to the block, place your 1275 head on. Push down each valve to mark the gasket. Then remove the head.
You now have a template for your dremmel. Think you only need about 4mm depth, will check my mini mag article to confirm.
The above is a tried and tested method by Darren of Brighton Mini Club (The one with a shorty)
Its a classic budget modification. I'm planning this for the duckling.

Works well and good cheep power gain I removed the head studs, sealed piston gaps with silicone milling bit in router and followed plans downloaded from minifinity a diy project that can be done in a few hours if you work carefully

Hi, I have just bought my first mini and it needs some body work done. Can you advise me where to go. It is a 1991 Rover City Mini, it has a current mot and Tax, but also some rust!
Many thanks,Rob
