right we have engine sitting in the garage and an engine hoist and a bank holiday weekend. so my main objective is to get the new engine painted and in, if not fully running by wednesday

me again sorted out the little office for a work bench and a bit of bespoke wiring got light angeled over the engine bay before shot lunch break after all anicallries and wiring labeled and removed oil drained and both drive shafts out one split at the pot joint which was not amusing all that remains is to disconnect the gear linkage and remove the last engine mount then it's out and free ready to have the head stripped and swapped

after spending the morning with builders sorting out a major water leak, of rainwater coming in through the external wall into julie boiler cupboard
and till 4 collecting duke with a car transporter from barnet
i spent 3hrs hammering at the roll pin to the gear linkage (even tried drilling it out but broke the bit in the pin)
and the fruits of my labours is many cuts and scrapes, and the pin halfway out
so mission failed tink is back on her wheels with the old engine still in

bought a set of parallel punches from screwfix but even smucking it with a 24oz hammer for 2hrs only got it 1/2inch out

wahey progress at first i bent the sodding parallel punch but after a visit to minispares they told me to put the car in reverse not 3rd gear and after 2 whacks with a 4lb club hammer the roll pin popped out so 2 hrs later the engine way out and the engine bay way getting cleaned an prepped ready for a hammerite session congratulation kiss trigg happy with his big tonka toy play set julie proving she got her hands dirty my impression of a black/white minstrel

plan of attack new clutch new oil seal round the gear linkage oil change strip clean and spray all brakets and mounts (half done) touch up engine bay new thermostat spray the starter motor black (already cleaned) refit engine and reconnect everything (cleaning all earths to bare metal) then see about getting it started

swapped the heads for the stage 2 off the old engine new clutch oil change

i noticed you have a cooper s reverse rim and tyre in the back ground in the last picture of the first group of photos. what you doing with them. ?? dean

stripped off the standard head cleaned it up and removed the old studs stripped off the stage 2 head ready for transfer new studs loctite into block ready for head stage 2 head transfered and finger tightened in place, gonna wait till the engine is monted before torqueing the head upto tension stripped the old clutch replaced the oil seal and new clutch all tidied away and waiting for another free weekend so i can paint the remaining bit insert the engine and plaumb everything back up ;D ;D ;D ;D
