right charged up the battery that was in the car, thought something was wrong when it started showing fully charged straight away but left it for a few hours anyway filled up all the fluids bunged the battery in turned th key and ................................... absoluteltly nothing, no lights at all no ignition light nothing went round the car checking i hadn't missed any wiring or something simple. Then cleanrd the major connector and earth. this time the little green light on the stereo flickered but that it. so went out and bought a multimeter from halfords (not that i know that much about using them) started checking the the voltage at the solenoid a staggering 7 volts so i checked the battery and yep it was only showing 7 volts banged it on charge for a few more hours and still only sgowing 7 volts got the battery out of duke which even after sitting for 2 years not being used showed 11volts put that in the car and i had light etc so took it out and put it on car but it was getting late at 11pm after about 2hrs the battery had just enough juice to engage the starter with a loud clonk but not enough to turn it at all so foiled for another weekend but means next weekend charge the battery overnight and fringers crossed

right swapped to a pre engaged starter and bypassed the piggyback solenoid and the starter whirred ;D then realised the flywheel wasn't turning still> sat there looking dumb for a bit and then realised the piggy back solenoid engages the starter to the fly and so can't be bypassed. after a rewire job and flaffing about to extend te loom plugged it all back in and................NOTHING so thinking the solenoid was dead i did the spanner trick and it turned over flywheel and all ;D after much confusion realised that the 2 solenoids have opposite connectors so some more re wiring and it was turning over off the key but i had no horn lights squirters wipers or stereo sat there with the 2 solenoid playiong spot the difference till in a pure moment of clarity i realised that the live feed for the ignition on an in ertia solenoid comes off a plate thats attached to the battery permanent live and is seperate on the pre engaged so added a wire across the 2 and hey presto everything but wipers and stereo so i think they're off a blown fuse and will find that next week engine now turns over produces spark has petrol but not running yet so i decided to quit while i was ahead and enjoy the rest of the weekend

right with much swearing and afew grazed knuckles tink has new hilos and front suspension
thanks to mr griff for pointing out my worlds stoopidist mistake left the rubber bump stop on before
with these off it was much easier
also managed to rescue the old tool using a combination of mole grips brute strength and ignorance
just gonna let them settle and re-adjust the height as one side is about 1/2 inch too high and the gap between te wheel and arch looks abit too wide
thought we'd drive her out and roung the bloke to help get her suspension settled but went to start her and only got a ticking for the starter
so battery is out and on charge and i'm praying it's that
