Hi there people, i want to get a new set of alloy wheels + tyres for my mini and have decided i want to go for these; www.plminishop.com/product-W-12001.html - have to copy and paste into your address bar cos hyper link not working !! Just wondering if anyone had a rough idea on how much i need to cut away at the front wings so that the new set of alloy wheels don't catch !?! Ant

Dont do it!! ;D ;D ;D Once you've cut they wings the only way back is replacement. It will also devalue your car!! So for 12x5 or 12x5.5 which Matidla's got (Josie's purple mini) Hi reccomended.

Hi you need to offer up your arches and mark the line. I use 2" masking tape and outline the arch with a pencil then cut whatever down from this line. Dont listen to simon his 5.5" wheels might be ok for 60hp but try putting 100hp+ through them and your going nowhere. Much respect to Simon ........................... but hes still a tosser ;D

Dont forget you need to reform the lip once the orignal is removed to give it strength

wont devalue your car , minis go for silly money whatever they are . What will devalue a car is having a rotten shell no matter how much you spend on a engine wheels and arches .

you will do, when you find out where you need to cut come back down 10- 13mm from the line, then cut that line, then you can bent up to your top line to make a lip,
best thing to cut to with is proberly a air saw an angle grinder is ok for straight edges or you can use tin snip but that can be a bit of a pain. make sure you used red oxide primer straight after you cut it as you dont want any rust starting
check you wheel bearings and suspention before fitting, as wider wheel wear out wheel bearing quicker and puts a little more stress on you suspention but they are only marginal,
those wheels will look nice and make you car have a wide look but not over the top.
dont forget to get some locking wheel nuts and the right wheel nuts for the taper on the wheel holes they will make them look much better and will not damaged the wheels

Quick update, was speaking to someone over email who works at PL Mini's (www.plmini.com) and they said that i wont need to do any cutting away of the front wings with the alloy wheels i want to get but as long as my front rubber cone suspension thingy's are good there should be no need because wont rub!! Hi you will spoil the effect if you dont drop it down a bit ,be carefull it will look like "BIG FOOT" and it also gives you a little negative camber also so k1
