I might me picking up a blower this week for my multi point injection, tunable at great expense engine. Its the one vmax scart(?) do your mini's. 120Bhp is the average they quote as a minimum!! ;D I think it was featured in the miniworld december 2005 issue. Missed that one, so could I borrow it off someone tomorrow please? Anyone got any pointers for inspecting a blower? Will be looking/feeling for no play in the bearings etc. I know its a BMW (45?) unit; so must be robust. Not sold on how it deals with the ecu/injectors underfueling a more demanding/thursty engine. So will be looking at it and how it intergrats into the engine bay first. Common thing is a different fuel regulator to the injector rail. But I'd rather the ECU controled the fuel input, than just double all fuel input.

hmmn bit of a tricky one , you by all means must get that issue of the mag , the problem with the ecu controlled fuel metering is that the ecu setup isnt that plyable with the adjustment it relies on the closed loop system which governs the metering taking info from the lamder sensor and the map sensoring and temperature and knock and flywheel position sensor with the feedback from the throttle pot all combined within the loop system , any corruption or mis information to these usually result in the engine management going into limp home mode causing a seriously rich mixture and reduced rev ability . i have seen in the latest issue of the mini world they have increased the size of the throttle body page 104 may edition the twin point MEMS ECU is a restricting factor when tuning the late rover minis : so far no one has successfully managed to produce a programmable ECU to replace the standard item and give the same results on more than one twin point mini . another restriction has been the 48mm throttle body fitted to the twin point rover unit . a company called burden has introduced the remoddeled version at 52mm in size this overcomes the problem with the restriction . the increase in 4 mm may not seem much but it is getting on for 10 percent of the overall size of the port , this provides a larger carb that tuned twin points require . the larger throttle body allows more air into the engine and , at lower revs the effect would be to slow the air speed . this is a simmilar effect to fitting twin 1 1/2 in carbs to a 1275 cc mini compared to twin 1 1/4s . there will be a power ioncrease but it willat the top endof the rev range .low down driveability and responsiveness may suffer . to get a real; piocture of the effects two minis were subjected to a rolling road session before and after fitting the 52mm throttle body , one was a standard twin point mini and the other was kay durys converted 90 bhp mini the results prove that the 52mm throttle body does increase the power . mini a - from 62.0bhp to 64bhp. mini b - from 77.2bhp to 81.0bhp kays ,mini. hope this helps with your quest for more power . regards

I think the article in the mag was just a car with one fitted (a red cooper MPI) it wasent a feature on how to fit one. By the way VMAX do fitting inc rolling road session for about £200 takes an afternoon

Cheers Shawn. I'm hanging out for the ECU from minispares which has been in development for 3 years by iluminition. But if I get this blower, I'll go with an emerald ECU which is fully re programmable. Plus its using all the sensors already in the engine and integrates with the immobilizer. Neil, yep/nop. Viewing this week and want the heads up on a blower. I intend to let vmax install it and set it up for a mild state of tune. ;D But I'll leave fitting it till the end of the summer, so I can also afford the emerald ECU too.

Si , the compression ratio needs changing , I think the best thing to do is email Stuart at VMAX , he is a really helpfull chap and he will sort you out. He developed the conversion . I should think Adrian will be able to help you out when he comes down for the AC Dodd evening next month. Dave

Its the full vmax kit, head, blower pulley, manifolds etc minus the oil cooler. Its just done 1000miles. And at half the cost of a new kit from vmax, I'm not complaining. But I'm starting to think the guy has sold it already, lack of communications!!
