I have side repeaters in mine and they are just cosmetics as i bought the wings very cheap and they had repeater holes anyway. I haven`t got them wired up yet the mot bloke said they had to be working as they were fitted is he wrong on this then. Just wanted to clarify that is all as all he done was popped them out and said oh they werent there ;D. Is there any reason why the change on the reverse lights seems wierd not to if you ask me but don`t mind as mine are intermitent anyway. FAZ

FAZ, Been in the motortrade since I left school over 18 years ago and as a apprentice i cannot remember testing reverse lights and I have certainly not tested them since becoming a MOT tester 7 years ago. This is the exact wording from the mot guide.
Vehicles first used on or after 1st April 1986 . These must be fitted with one side repeater indicator on each side . Instead of a seperate lamp, the side repeater might be part of the front direction indicator if it includes a wrapround lens. Dave

dave was the reason for the grille slat size change in relation to the engine cooling / fresh air availability ? like the front pannel mod / cutout near the wheel for brake cooling ? by the way dave what time r u picking me up as jamie wants to know as he was going to follow us cos he does not know where the club is .

tried to phone u , 7pm mate. the front grille was just part of the mk2 facelift the mini received in october 67. Other parts changed were rear lights, larger rear window, switchgear , front panel, inner wings , interior trim, bonnet , bonnet hinges plus other bits and pieces. The full skirt front panel as it was called was replaced in 1964 by the style that went on to the end of production, actually the front panel changed alot right up to the Sports Pack launch but as far as style was concerned they looked the same. The reason was said to be for extra brake cooling but I cannot of seen it would make any differance on a a car with drums so maybe it was a decision made to benefit the Cooper models. It could of been a way of trying to improve the poor performance of the 7 inch Cooper disc set up , to improve performance of both the 7 and 7.5 inch set ups or possibly it was a descision that came from Abingdon to help cool down the brakes on the rally cars. Or to put it simply a Abingdon Works Rally Team modification that to be kept legal for rallying needed to be Homologated by having the road car on sale to the general public fitted with the same part.
I would say it was certainly modified mainly for benefit of the Cooper models.Who knows the real reason.
