Hi,
does anyone know of another car which will have a more powerful alternator which should fit on a mini? I've got a 45A standard one at the moment and its crap. I've seen the uprated 70A one from minispares but its expensive. Cheers if you can help

You need to look at any other Rover / BMC / Etc. or anything with the same stud pattern I did here that one off a Sherper Van fits too. I found this thread on mini classic. about batteries not alternators cos I look for them but couldent find anything but it does mention alternators in here briefly p211.ezboard.com/fminiclassicminiclassicice.showMessage?topicID=1676.topiclet me know if you find a souurse as I need one too for my spot lights N

i have heard a Montego one will fit, and Maestro.
Im sure these are compatible, used to work down the scrapyard and was always selling alternators for different motors, but same lump such as the A-seires

Cool thats very useful, looks like theres abit of tension in the first link lol. good job thers no arguments on here like that eh. so a pug 306 diesel battery seems good and a maestro alternator. sorted. I have a trade card for halfords now tis great but I still can't get them for the whole club Stephen

Prob a bit late now, but if you venture on yo BMC's forum they boss Fazman/Tangoman has changed his alternator to a ford one with little upgrades, cheap as well.
Its in their technical section i think, only just looked and cant remember hehe

Cheers Darren, but i have now bought a brand new high output unit (70amps!) from ebay brand new including postage for £60. Also got the pug 306 diesel battery so i will be able to pump out the bass all day long, just need to speed up the tickover lol

I think they came to about £15-£20 more cos they dont include VAT in their prices + postage. i find minispares is overpriced on many things but they do have good stuff.

you want overpriced? go to Minisport and Moss for that. outragous prices for identical stuff available from almost any mini parts supplier. d

yea ur right there... although some of minisports own stuff is good like the cam kits that i mentioned on monday. think it was about £60 for the whole kit and they work well with a 998 (got about 55bhp at the wheels)
