Had a look in the technical data book at work regarding VTEC engines and what car they are fitted in.
1995-1997 Civic 1500cc VTEC, engine code D15Z3, 89 BHP .
1996-2000 Civic 1500cc VTEC, engine code D15Z6, 114 BHP.
1995-1997 Civic 1600cc VTEC, engine code D16Y2, 124 BHP.
1996-2000 Civic 1600cc , engine code D16Y5, 114 BHP.
1996-2000 Civic Coupe 1600cc, engine code D16Y8, 125 BHP.
1996-1998 CRX as above.
1999-2001 Civic 1600 VTEC, engine code D16W4, 125 BHP.
1996-2000 Civic VTEC, engine code B16A2, 158 BHP. Think this is the one Allspeed do the frame for that does not require a longer front , only bulkhead mods. Although I need to double check the engine code on the Allspeed site.
1992-1998 Civic VT 1600cc. engine code B16A2, 160 BHP.
2000-2004 Civic Type 'R' 2000cc, engine code K20A2, 200 BHP.
1998-2001 Integra TYPE 'R' 1800cc. engine code B18C6, 141 BHP.
Hope this is help in sourcing the right car/engine. My apprentice at work has a mate with a VTEC sitting in his garage I am trying to find out which one it is. If suitable I am thinking of putting it in the Pick Up. ;D

yeah I know. Or shall I say, I dont.
Getting fed up being blown off the road by every car on the road. Sticking a twin cam Micra engine in a Mini is still a performance conversion compared to the A series.
Miniworld have emailed me today and want my mark 1 on the Magazine stand at the Castle Coombe track day and at the National Mini Show. That means driving to Leistershire for Stanford Hall National Show, not got a clue where Coombe is . I am worried about getting there as the oil pressure gets low after a hour or so of running. With a modern engine there is no worries about engine reliability.

found out that Castle Coombe is just of the M4 in Wiltshire. Can get to it by using A27, then cross country via Salisbury , so that journey will be easiery on the car than using M25,M4. For The National show using M1 or slightly quieter M40 is the only way to get there.

£3K to build a vtec mini?? I think you may want to save for a bit longer.

Isn't that about the price of a conversion kit?

You will be looking at about £1500 for a frame, drive shafts, mounts.... £1000 for the DTA ecu £900 for engine Different final drive will be another £900
Thats the main bits but it is surprising how much all the mall bits add up. Roll cage, Brakes, Dails, Body work.......
Including buying a donor car for £1300 i recon mine has cost getting on for £8k and i was saving money where i could well worth it though

I was thinking more like: - £1500 for the Kit £1000 for a complete Honda Car Inc Engine Use Standard ECU from Honda Use Standard FD on 13"s Already have a 1/2 decent mini with a flip front, cage and coilovers etc. That leaves 500 for odd bits and pieces But this is all a long way off, I have had my current mini 4-5 years and its still an ongoing project in need of repair. Steve, what frame are you using? is it an allspeed frame? N

mmm, thats why i have been considering the single cam Vauxhall c16se 100bhp, still got to buy the frame but for me in the trade the donor car and assosiated parts are cheaper and easily available , ok not the high performance Vtec, but personally all I want is reliability and modern everyday car performance in a mini body.. It will do 70 easily etc etc. As said before ,the twin cam 1300/1400 Micra mk2 would be a performance upgrade on the A series. Dave
