I'm using a 2.7, works fine for me and I'm on 60ish BHP,
Mind you up to 40mph Stephen in his 1000cc? on a 3.44diff kept up, the the longer legs of the 2.7 really showed.

no calming down or boxing rings required, sort yourselves out . ;D
Remember Dean and I are talking about a 3.4 diff and ten inch wheels . If any of you running bigger wheels and lower diffs want to drive my car at 60mph plus to see what its like , be my guest . My 998 is from a Metro . You could say it is a disadvantage using a Metro engine for a Mini as the mk2 Metro used 13 inch wheels which makes the gearing even with the 3.4 diff a lot taller . Dave

Thought you would ask. . At a club meet . Thought between the roundabouts on the Polegate bypass would be good. Was hoping one of the guys with low diffs and big wheels would like to compare it . Simon? Dave

Glad to see a couple of members have been on the ml forum . Dean got a answer to his diff ratio question and tim dr had the fact a straight cut box needs a bit more go to make it work properly (ie. engine and box working together nearer there full potential) confirmed although I would like to point out that no-one on our forum posted that a engine under 100hp with a straight cut box is working to hard . Although a correct quote from a edmc post was found in the end.. Dave
