well we have been looking for the last 18 mouths for a good riley elf or wolseley hornet, been to see a few and most of them are too much for what they were and rotten, but we finally got one.thanks to grant for spoting it. its a riley elf, may 1968 car,mk3 blue with blue trim, needs a little work which i am fine, i just did not want something that needed as much work as the mk1, its all complete ( partly striped tho) and original, tax exempt . we still have to go pick it up, and lucky as we have just chosen a council garage to rent just round the corner so it will go in there till i am ready to start it. my plan is to turn it into a 60's racer, no bumpers, minimal chrome, 2 front seats, i have a freshly rebuilt 1293 in the garage which i drop in there, convert it to 'S' brakes ( mini spares kit) rosepetals, or 'S' rims, going to be a light blue maybe speedwell blue, and white roof. convert it to dry suspension, just keep it plan and simple, light, and only things that need to be there, may go for light weight doors to lower the weight, poly windows, etc etc something like this

We are not picking it up till Sunday 5th June but I will get photos and stick them up
I will just get it running , moted and taxed as it's not been on the road for 20 years so it has not been classed as historic till I tax it , then it will change.
Once I have that done that. Then we can start to change it.

well we went on a mission today, me julie matt lisa left at 8:00 this moring and and headed to hitchin with the trailer in tow, got up there and was surprised how solid it was, the floors front and back are solid, so is the boot floor and boot lip, rear quaters, and roof, a really solid car for a 1968 car. the same key fits all the locks and ignition, and all the chrome work etc is all in the boot, its all complete just needs sorting out and bolted back on bad ish points. the front end needs a little work , A panels drivers door step, doors need sorting but got a good pair with the car, battery box sort out the outer sills and thats just the body work the hydro is down on one side but i came with a new metal pipe, need to test the engine and give the brake system a overhaul, just a general once over on everything, my plan is to get it running taxed and moted so first its not going to be pretty but usable, once thats sorted and start to change it. its now tucked away in a garage waiting to be done

Cool I like the stance in the front off side corner... dont raise the suspension just lower the other corners to match!

Well nearly. There is no windscreen wipers fitted so the water got on the the bulk head then into the car.
It was ok getting it on. At first it did catch at the trailer was still attached to the car so the ramps were to high. As soon as we took it off and lowered the back end down it fitted on fine.
Just a same it got wet On the way home looks like it's been in a garage for most of it's life and for the last 20 years it's been off the road.
I seen those grills on eBay need to find out which ones I need.

Looks cool. Bit wary about what lies beneath the sound deadening, but looks solidish from the pics
