a caffyns branch

Can you believe it has taken me 1 week to get a bottom hose for a carburettored 1993 1275 auto .

Made a price and availabilty call to the Caffyns branch last wednesday. Gave chassis number and other details , such as non injected , auto , 1275 and the fact it had no expansion tank (mpi's)

After checking prices with Minispares etc I went back to Caffyns and ordred it from them.

I knew it would be a couple of days , so when it got to lunch time friday I callled Caffyns and asked where the hose was .

I was told by the parts guy that someone had phoned for a price only and not called back to order.

What a load of sh*t that was. I had made all enquiries and had called back and ordered it on a 2 day stock order .

I ordered again and the part was now expected Tuesday late morning .

Come 1pm Tuesday I phoned the branch and asked if the hose was on the van . I will check said the parts guy .

He comes back to me after a long time and his voice had certainly changed and he sounded nervous as he started waffling on about the fact it had not turned up because the Rover wagon had broken down in Dagenham , he was making it up as he went along . For starters there is no such thing as a Rover wagon , Rover do not exist .

After all that bull he told me it will definately be with me the next day , coarse it will . He forgot to order it and will now have to order it overnight on a VOR delivery .
I was not happy as I had to explain to my customer about the missing part .

At least the part was ordered and would be with me Wednesday ;D

hi dave sorry to see you guys have had problems with caffyns , we have had absolutely no problem with them at all, ordered the parts and they have delivered the correct part on the day they say , all be it sometimes expensive .when we order we talk to the guy on the phone whilst hes looking at the micrfisch and go thru the description and different types and allways come up with the right bits .

Not impressed with Caffyns generally.

Not long ago my Mum took here Citreon Belingo (however it's spelt! ) to the Citroen Caffyns in Uckfield for general service etc.
They had a phone call after just having dropped it off 10mins ago, saying they couldnt find the locking key. Mum explained where it was in the back of it as they had recently used it & knew where it was kept (as it has been kept since they brought it!) The mechanic said they'd looked but couldnt find it. They looked again & said it definatly wasnt there. Mum & Brian then thought - that maybe quick-fit may have miss-placed it when it was there the other week so they rang them to ask. They said there was some spare ones there & they were welcome to have a look to see if one was theres (additionally, they were apologetic in case it was their fault even before confirming - which is unusual for quick-fit anyway!)
To cut a long story short - Brian took the bike over to QF to check their spares: none were right, so he came all the way back with nothing. Caffyns in the mean time did most of the service without taking the wheels off. (for some reason they didnt even have spare locking keys either! )
They charged full price for service (dont know how they got round that) and mum brought the car back. Later, Mum & B thought they'd better check for locking key as it meant they will need to get a new one - & low & behold, there it was in the back exactly where they told them it was! Idiots!
Mum phoned them, being very angry & insulting (not like mum at all) & they didnt even apologies or offer to reduce the service or bring it back in for the additions it required FOC.

As well as other occasions of inncompetance from that branch, safe to say none of my family will be returning there!

Been in the trade for 20 years , i know the Bullsh*t .
Also worked in Main dealer parts , so I know the bullsh*t there to . So ordering parts is something i know how to do . I also know a bit about Minis so 100% caffyns peanuts up.

When I was looking for a C3 desel, I went there (as they were a citroen dealer) but as soon as I said what I was looking for and at what price, they guy turned his nose up & said 'you wont get one of those second hand these days!'

We looked around the cars he had there, & I showed an interest in the Honda Jazz they had. I asked some questions about it but he just pulled me away from it saying it's not what I wanted ( ) then he tried to sell me a heap of junk out the back.

Funnily enough I didnt go back there - within two days I found about 6 second hand C3s within my price range & just what I wanted! ;D
