been working on the mk1 got the rear quater panel all welded in place and started to grind it back, very happy with it everything lines up, door is flush, door gap is right. just got to finish off grinding the rest back then thats that job done
finally found a roof, thanks bogey, mine is too badly dented where people have been over the years been storing things all over it.
so sometime in march its going to be fitted

been playing on the mk1 again, all welds are ground down, all smooth re profiled the body line as that where the join was welded along, that is the best place to blend the join in, finished off spot welding around the rear arch and up the rear seam, so that another ticked off the list while i was out there, i realised that i have replaced nearly the whole lower drivers side, rear quarter, inner and outer sills, door step, reskinned doors, inner and out A panels new wings, so except for the the upper posts the whole side has been replaced, never thought i ever do that. also braced up the shell to keep the body square for when i cut the roof off, the photos dont look too pretty, but the body line is back, welds are all smooth, and when all the paint has been blasted off its had a coat of primer it will look better

It took less than 5 minutes to cut off and was surprised it fitted in the back of julies car.
I am not going to cut the gutter off my car so I will keep my drip rail. There are a few way to fitted just got to weigh up the best way. It's going on in the next 2 weeks.

finally got a decent amount of time to do the mk1. the roof has been cut off and also used the wire brush on the angle grinder to remove all the old sealer and layers of paint, so now the gutters are back to bare metal,
i am going to stick the new roof down with tiger seal, this stuff id you have not heard of it is used in the motor trade, its very good and gluing thing together, seems strange but trust me this stuff is good.
going to gring off the remained of the old roof in the gutter give it a few layers of red oxide to seal it, trim and fit the new rood then glue and cramp it down. thats going to be the fun bit
i have photos on the phone but i going back out there now, so i post them later.
