All starting to come together now, the engine has been checked over and I've managed to get away with just replacing the crankshaft thrust washers, a new water pump has been fitted, some new hoses, the dizzy has been set up by AC Dodd and generally everything cleaned up and painted. Hopefully should be fitting the engine next weekend. Then its MOT time....

never seen that kind of setup with the oil filter, what has it been mounted to at the back, and what the reason for doing it does help in anyway, is it a kit of do you design it your self and make up all the plates and outlets very interesting!!!!!!
and is that an oil temp sender on top of the housing , thats a good idea as mine if i put it on will have to he mounted where my oil drain plug is , but then its not magnetic so it will not pick up all the odd bits of metal
look like it will be ready for L2B dean

Not sure when the remote filter conversion was done, I have never seen another like it! Basically it has two elbows tapped into the oil gallery before the oil goes through the oil pump. This means the oil gets filtered before it goes through the pump thus saving the engine if the gearbox goes bang.. Good job really, I think this engine has been through several gearbox blow ups and survived. The filter that is fitted is huge compared to a normal mini filter, I think it is the same as fitted to JCB's. The extra volume of oil and the filter's location also provides a bit of extra oil cooling. I'm sure you could tap a similar temp sender into the standard mini filter housing, its a bit neater than the ones that go into the sump plug. It needs to be ready before L2B!! I'm going to Holland on the 9th.....
