Took the engine out at the weekend . Found a massive hole in the dif casing big enough to get your hand in . The diff pin had, as suspected snapped leaving no drive to the driveshafts . There is enough metal in the bottom of the gearbox for some to have gone through the oil pump meaning a strip down of the engine is also required as 80k the mileage really warrants more new componants other than the oil pump.

no time or money , besides i want to do the bare minimum to the Spi engine to get it on the road .
Got the Studio 2 VVC project for the K series . No point sticking the K in a typically rotten injection shell when i have a mint painted shell ready when time allows .

Nearly bought the only oil pump available at SMD to put in the Sidewalk as it would have undoutably consumed gearbox bits when it blew .
It was on the Minispeed stand . The boss got it out but when I saw the box had made in Taiwan on it I declined . Must be able to get a proper quality one for the same money somewhere else I thought . .

Titan oil pumps are the best at the mo, chuffing expensive and not a lot on the shelf. Most reliable and perfect tolerances.
Minispares all the way. Advice from AC.

It will be Minispares as i get discount anyway . Always trusted the stuff they sell.
Put the master cylinder back on it tonight so i can tow it to work . Unfortunately the bloody thing would not bleed out . Getting a mate to lift car tomorrow.
When at work i will repair inner wing and holes in front panel. Going to order oil pump to . Hope to get on with engine box late next week,

spent thursday and friday sorting out the front end. the front panel is repaired as are the inner wings .
The bonnet, wings, front panel and A panels are now freshly painted . Cannot wait to get the rest done, no money for that tho.
today i took the head off the Spi engine . I did eventually . It got stuck on a front head bolt . I managed to remove that but it was still stuck onto the block . Eventually i used the engine crane , i lifted the engine by the head and helped it a bit with a copper hide mallet . Eventually it seperated . Bores look excellent , no movement in the pistons . The head looks ok to and surprisingly clean down the ports . Next step is remove gearbox.

as i have not found a cheapy Micra 1275 i am going to carry on with the old a series 1275 .
heads off and cleaned up , gave the combustion chambers a freshen up , removed the valves and cleaned them on wire wheel. re-lapped the valves in today. cannot fit the valves in as there is no stem seals in my full engine gasket set i bought from somerford at smd . anyone got 4 ? heads painted up now and just waiting for the said seals to complete .
tuesday i am going to split box from engine .

just thought , do you mean mk1 bonnet or old SIDEWALK BONNET I WANT TO SELL .
MK1 and its Bonnet will be ready for Mag stand at Castle Combe ;D
