Hopefully that'll be enough to take out the play.. So you didn't grease it before you took it for the test?

Was taken to SET tyres in heathfield, asmy work place is right behind it, and when you work 12 hours a day this was the easier option.
Will be round Matt and Lisa most of weekend if anyone wants to help out

;DToday has been very productive.
Changed both Flasher units for new ones, and i managed to count 60 flashes in 40 seconds, removed old twisted and deteriated flexi hose and replaced with a new one, Robbed mankey of the nut that holds the pipe to the subframe. Robbed mankey of two nipples and regreased everything. relesed manfold clamp and cleaned, then packed with gum gum, repositioned exhaust and refitted clamp, put a new nut and bolt on sump bracket with locktite.
So that was one of the advisorys done.
Although not on mot failer sheet i had a look at my spot lights as 1 dont work, couldnt work out how to get the bulb out so disconected the working one.
Borrowed mankeys stereo and fitted to roger as i still cant find the face to my unit, and with the extra parts i had to buy couldnt afford to buy a second hand one.
Tommorro before Marc's birthday party wiil fit the new rear cylinder and bleed the brakes, then its job done.
Then will tackle the remaining advisorys:-
Both front seats have excessive play but still secure. seeing that they are original seats with original gubbings underneath couldnt fathom this out, but will investigate at later date.
Welding in boot was only just passable, again i will sort this out .
And the last one was leaking gases from the manifold area, sorted this one earlier.
Anyway time for some beer daz

The amount of times the indicator flashes is mot criteria , can fail fast or slow .
All wording on mot failures is set . All we can do is click in the tick box next to the failed item . Jobs worth is a bit unfair . If the ministry come in and check Roger after it has been tested and passed but find the indicators are to slow its the test station and tester who get a bollocking and points against there name . To many points you loose your license and maybe your job. . Also the mot is a safety test if Daz sticks the indicators on and because they flash to slow the car driver behind or approaching in the opposite direction does not see them working when Daz carries out his manouvere and there is a accident..... etc etc.
The mot test is done for safety . However as VOSA tell you on MOT courses the mot is THE MINIMUM STANDARD . Its not a full service and does not mean the car has nothing wrong . The vt32 orange advisory sheet is to let you know what may need doing to your car although that advised componant meets the minimum standards of the mot and passes it . The vt32 is also good for the tester because anything suspect is noted and therefore the tester is covered if there was a accident etc in the future.
Sorry to bleat but the MOT is for your safety . Its your car you maintain it . How can it be a testers fault if a part on the car you own , you drive and should be looking after goes wrong.
Anyway ....... Glad you are getting it done Daz and you will be at Riv Run again .

jobsworth in this instance is not unfair Dave. You know as well as I do that mini flashers vary in there timing and under normal driving conditions they are fine. If the car is sat on the ramp at the mot station it is normaly on tickover, nine times out of ten a small blip of the throttle is all that is required to up the repetitive speed of the flashers. Unfortunately Daz did'nt post the exact flashes per minute so it could have been 59 or 1, and did the tester have a stopwatch? if so that's jobsworth to me. Any way looks like all sorted now so look forward to seeing Roger on the road soon. john PS it's also worth mentioning the mot is only a test of the vehicles road worthiness at the time of the test, once it leaves the testing station the owner is responsible for keeping it in a roadworthy condition.
