Well , I thought it time I put my cars on here , cannot have Simon taking the glory can we , you know what he is like , give him a inch ...... ;D
My 73 Pick Up is still in a million bits (of dust all over the floor ) well ok its complete but very rusty and in need of a total body rebuild . It will need strengthening bars welded in it to make sure everything is square before metal is removed . I moved it the other day in preperation for clearing out the garage and transporting it to my lock up so I only have the Studio 2 and Mark 1 at home , will be much happier when both cars of value are under my nose .
The poor old truck is looking very sad , maybe in the next couple of years a Heritage Shell will come out and save it . Will take some pics when the junk is cleared of it .
The Studio 2 is still in bits , about to order a modified wiring loom , I have a non mini engine front subframe , modified Mini clutch master cylinder to enable a cable clutch system , rose jointed lower arms and tie rods on the way . Work will resume by end of January .
Looks like I will be taking the MK1 to Cornwall ,as I doubt Studio 2 will be done , just as well I have nearly finished building the MED engine kit , its based on a mildly tuned MG Metro engine . All new parts , 1340cc , modified head , piper cam etc , on a rebuilt Morspeed gearbox. Not looking for power as the engine in Studio 2 will do 60 in around 7 secs according to a Mini seen in a recent Minimag with the same standard engine I will be using . I want reliability in the mk1 . Again that should be running by end of Jan .
The Newton Commercial seats in my mk1 got a mention by Tim Munday in the March 07 Mini World page114 . . He talks about trying a Newton Commercial bucket seat at Stanford Hall 2005, that was my seat, had a chat with him about them . Monty also tried the seats out but could not fit in them so the red Miniworld Mini built from the first heritage shell had black 60's Cooper recliners fitted instead. .
