Here are the minutes from the committee meeting held on Monday, 6 August at The Red Lion.
1. Matters arising from last meeting.
- Associate membership now in place for use with club events.
- Membership forms altered to remove membership card
- Flyers updated, but will be redesigned in the near future
- Darren to ensure club discounts are still valid
2. Attracting new members to the club.
As a way of attracting new members to the club, it was suggested printing a short personal note with club logo, website and polite greeting, to be left on windscreens of potential new members cars.
3. End of season meal.
It was decided to hold an end of season meal rather than a Christmas party this year. All members are invited to suggest suitable venues, preferably in the Eastbourne area.
4. AGM
Voting procedures for the AGM in December are to be discussed further with the possibility of ballot papers being drawn up to decide the committee for 2008.
5. Club meetings
Members are asked to remain quiet during Darren's and others announcements. This is so all members present are able to hear what is said.
6. New membership
It has been suggested presenting new members with a welcome pack to include a letter from the Chairman, most recent newsletter and club sticker.
7. Basic training
Josie and others are keen to start some basic training sessions for members to enable them to take care of their minis. Forms asking for areas that members would like covered will be available at meetings. Dates, times and subjects will then be decided and published on the forum and in the newsletter.
On a similar note, Dave will be speaking to AC Dodd to arrange for him to attend one of our club meetings to answer members questions about engines, gearboxes etc.. His attendance at meeting last year proved popular and we would like to repeat this.
8. IMM 2008
Paul will be looking into a preliminary itinerary for this event in Holland next year. Ferry crossings, accommodation and travel routes and times will be discussed so we can make early bookings and hopefully arrange discounts too.
9. Day trip/overnight trip to France
Would members be interested in doing a pre-Xmas day trip or overnight stay in France later in the year? If you would like to take part please contact Dave, who will then look into making a group booking.
10. Club bank account
Rob H will order a second cheque book and paying in book to make access to the club account easier.
11. Eastbourne and RAM
Simon has contacted Eastbourne and RAM club with a view to taking part in some of their events. They have also invited us to a quiz night on 26 September at Langney Sports and Social Club. If you would like to take part in the quiz, please contact Darren.
12. Evening cruises
It has been suggested members take part in a short cruise round Eastbourne as part of the club meeting. This would give new members a flavour of what we are about and get the club noticed.
Also, meeting for an evening cruise once a month has been suggested. Members could take it in turns to lead a short cruise ending at the local pub of their choice.
13. Committee meeting
The next committee meeting will be held on Monday, 3 December at The Red Lion, Willingdon.
Thank you for reading and if you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact any committee member.
